I started my NDIS business from my kitchen table in 2019 with a newborn on my hip, two neurodivergent kids navigating school, and no business degree, mentor, or funding just a deep desire to create something better for my family and for the people in our community who deserved real care;

I told myself I’d only work during school hours, but life had other plans, and I quickly found myself wearing every hat support worker, admin, marketer, bookkeeper, roster coordinator, cleaner, team leader, and mum.

I dropped my kids at school, worked six hours straight, picked them up, cooked dinner, managed therapy appointments, baths, and bedtime, then stayed up until midnight answering emails and invoicing, and although some nights I cried at the kitchen sink wondering if I’d made a mistake, I kept going because I believed that if I could build this right, I wouldn’t just change my life I’d help others change theirs too; we supported single mums, trained entry-level staff into admin leaders, celebrated birthdays, rewarded loyalty, and built something with heart, but along the way I also learned hard lessons I burned out, made costly decisions, watched staff walk away with clients, and faced financial pressure and betrayal on nights where I questioned if I’d lost everything. In the end, I handed the business over, free of debt, just to protect the participants, letting go of everything I’d built because their stability mattered more than my pride, and while I walked away with nothing, I kept my values and gained the clarity of what it truly means to build something.g that lasts.
